The slow cooked short ribs totally fall off the bone after about 3 hours in the hot oven. Mixing that melt in your mouth meat with Giada’s simple sauce and classic penne pasta is just the perfect melding of ingredients. It’s the 3 hour wait that has the whole house full of people in a frenzy while waiting. This recipe is best made on a cold winter day when warmth and comfort is of the utmost necessity. It’s a little time consuming and a bit of a messy process, but you will feel so good once you’re serving it to the sweeties in your life. It’s color & flavor could even make it special enough for a Valentine’s Day dinner!

I served the pasta with steamed veggies and cheese bread. This pasta really needs no side dish. It’s that substantial.
Thank you Giada for another lovely rustic pasta dish.
My variations:
I used a large can of crushed tomatoes instead of the 5 roma.
I mixed both penne pasta and pasta wheels because that’s what I had on hand.
